Thugs leaderboard

From 2024 members will now be able to access a live and regularly updated competition leader board. This should be of particular use to those members unable to travel who still like to keep abreast of the latest scores.  In previous years this has proved difficult to administer, however new web-authoring software should make the task far simpler and more reliable.  More HERE

Tenerife 2024 is a resounding success!

The decision to swap our THUGS Tour from Mallorca to Tenerife proved to be both popular and successful as the seven members who made the trip agreed it was a positive move in every way, and voted to continue to hold the tour in the Canary Islands.

All change for 2024 as Tenerife
becomes the new Mallorca!

In a huge change from our previous trips over the last 25 years the 2024 THUGS Tour will now take place on the island of Tenerife rather than our usual Mallorca.

After several attempts to 'Freshen up' our annual stay in the Balearics we have taken the bold step of an entirely different venue for our trip.  More Here

Dave Whittingham takes the Mallorca 2023 honours

Dave Whittingham was the victor and Pink Jacket winner after some very steady golf during our 25th anniversary Mallorca Tour.

A few substantial changes were made to celebrate the occasion, with the central Palma location allowing us different options for the social side of the trip, but there were no changes in Dave's usual consistency on the course as he picked up his first Claret Jug win.

A full report is available on the NEWS page.

Mallorca Tour 2023 Update

With just 45 days to go before we celebrate our 25th anniversary of the Mallorca tour, all bookings have been made, and our first stay in Palma centre promises to add a whole new dimension to the trip.

A full itinerary is now available on the NEWS page.

Mallorca Comment   Since the inauguration of our society in 1998 we have been fortunate enough to have held our annual tour on the island of Mallorca in every one of the following 25 years apart from 2019 where Covid simply didn't allow travel there. Over the course of those 25 years we have made good friends, enjoyed great hospitality, discovered fantastic restaurants and bars, played some wonderful courses, and had a huge amount of fun. We have many fond memories that we often reminisce over, and count ourselves lucky that we witnessed the great years of Magaluf and surrounding resorts in their heyday.

Unfortunately all good things ultimately come to an end, and the changes implemented by the local Calvia governing bodies have seen the nightlife diminish year after year, to the point where Magaluf is no longer a hive of entertainment, and has become very much a ghost town over the last few years. It is for this reason that we have decided to move our tour base to Tenerife, where there is still plenty of evening entertainment, and a superb choice of restaurants to complement the fantastic golf courses out there.

Whether Magaluf will ever recover remains to be seen - and we will miss the iconic and legendary bars there that night after night provided excellent live acts and a buzz of atmosphere. For now it seems like The Britannia, Piano Bar, Red Lion, BCM, Bacos, Plaza, Manos, Boomerang, Lord Nelson, Benny Hill's, Jokers, Robin Hood and so many other brilliant venues have either disappeared or will do so very soon - and that is a great shame for which the local authorities must carry the burden.
